HARRIET TUBMAN WHAT A SODIER...

Visitors flock to Eastern Shore center, after 'Harriet' movie released by Anna-Lysa Gayle/ABC7 Friday, November 29th 2019 3 VIEW ALL PHOTOS 'Harriet': The story of Harriet Tubman.

Dorchester County, Md. For the first time, many are seeing Harriet Tubman’s life story up close and personal.

“The strength, the determination, her love for family and the idea that someone small...has the power to change the world,” said Cynthia Erivo, who plays Harriet in the movie based on her life story.

The movie, filmed mostly in Virginia, captures Harriet Tubman’s struggles on the underground railroad in the 1800s. “The movie Harriet has increased our visitation, usually we’re quiet after Labor Day but we’ve had summer numbers,” said Ranger Angela Crenshaw.
Crenshaw is one of the rangers tasked with sharing Harriet’s story with visitors at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center in Dorchester County, Maryland.

Harriet Tubman. (ABC7) “I just came out from seeing that movie about Harriet Tubman and I left feeling more empowered as a woman,” said Minnie Beasley, who visited the center from California.

“Tubman was just a regular woman born into horrible circumstances, who never received formal education, but she did amazing things for her family and friends,” said Crenshaw.
“She emancipated over 70 people on the underground railroad and to me, she did what was right.
She knew American slavery was wrong.
She said slavery was the next thing to hell.”

The center takes us through the real moments in Harriet’s life, from her marriage to a free black man, to her escape from slavery and her near death experience with an overseer which left her with a head injury and seizures for the rest of her life.

“We get a lot of tears, I’ve been a ranger for over five years and I’ve given more hugs here at this park than I have at any other place. People want an emotional connection and we give that to them,” Crenshaw said. “Hearing about this black woman, who did so much, long enough to live to be 91, is very remarkable and people wanted to know more,” said Dr. Amy Yeboah.
Yeboah is a professor in the Afro-American studies department at Howard University, she says Harriet’s story is one that resonates with everyone, regardless of age, sex or race.

“She was an individual who felt strongly about leading herself and her people to freedom and she was relentless about that and I think we should continue to be critical about who she is, continue to read into her story,” she said.

The main challenge with the TCP/IP stack, since it was designed for the internet, is that it does not handle the constraints brought on by the Internet of Things in the most efficient manner.

These constraints include small objects with low available power and low power consumption, needing to connect with low available bandwidth, and delivering low data connection on a scarce wireless network.

The European IoT6 research project is a 3 years FP7 European research project on the Internet of Things.
It aims at exploring the potential of IPv6 and related standards (6LoWPAN, CORE, COAP, etc.) to overcome the current shortcomings and fragmentation of the Internet of Things.

They have designed and tested a protocol suite enabling the integration of multiple communication protocols into an architecture. The research project has collaborated with several international standardizations bodies such as: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a non-profit organization formed in 1963.

The IEEE Standards Association has a portfolio of over 1,100 active standards and more than 500 standards under development including the prominent IEEE 802® standards for local, metropolitan, and other area networks, including Ethernet and Wireless LAN (commonly referred to as Wi-Fi®).

There are more than 421,000 members in more than 160 countries. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is an open standard organization formed in 1986. IETF is an organized activity of the Internet Society which is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 to provide leadership in Internet-related standards, education, and policy. IETF is particularly responsible for the TCP/IP suite. IETF specifications (drafts and final versions) are published as “request for comments” (RFCs).

The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) was formed in 1865 as a body standardizing international telegraph exchange.

The ITU-T is one of the three sectors of the International Telecommunication Union(ITU) which is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies.

ITU-T coordinates standards for telecommunications through study groups which develop and release standards recommendations.

OASIS (Advancing open standards for the information society) is a non-profit consortium founded in 1993 by vendors and users wanting to have guidelines among products that supported the Standard Generalized Markup Language.

It now has more than 5000 participants in more than 65 countries. OASIS releases standards for multiple usages such as Smart Grid, IoT/M2M, Big Data and so forth.

The European IoT6 research project has gathered some key recommendations on how to exploit IPv6 features for the IoT in their “Integration handbook for SMEs” available on their website: www IoT6.eu. They consider that the main benefits of IPv6 for the IoT are the following : Scalability Enabling the extension of the Internet and the web of things Solving the NAT barrier Improving Routing StateLess Address AutoConfiguration Multicast and anycast Quality of Service Mobility Security IPv6 version available for low-power devices Fully Internet compliant.

Taking into consideration the fact that IoT objects need very low power consumptions and optimized transmission of “unneeded data, protocol overhead, and non-optimized communication patterns”, they have proposed and clarified an IoT architecture and the following level : Device Level: devices leveraging IPv6 and legacy devices leveraging specific protocols, such as KNX, ZigBee, or Bluetooth, as well as IPv4.

Communication Level: Devices are connected either via the so-called half gateways (that convert legacy protocols to IPv6) or directly, when they are IPv6-enabled.

Service Level: the IoT6 architecture support several solutions for service registration and discovery.

Other standardization groups are also contributing to the standards of the IoT such as: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent non-governmental organization of national standards bodies (individuals or companies cannot become members).

In conclusion of this paragraph and to summarize: IPV6 is a reliable solution to address the specific requirements (scalability, interoperability, multicast and anycast, etc.) of the IoT IoT is likely to keep a certain level of heterogeneity including several communication protocols.

IoT is likely to integrate all this heterogeneous landscape into IPv6 IPv6 is part of a wider IoT architecture including complementary standards IoT acronyms Here are some clarifications of important acronyms to know when speaking about the technical side of the IoT: Interoperability and communication protocols: IEEE 802.15.4: Low Rate WPAN.

These Wireless Personal Area Networks enable interoperability and communication between portable and mobile computing devices such as PCs, Smartphones, electronic tablets, peripherals, cell phones and consumer electronics.

One of the objectives of the Low Rate WPAN is to enable low data rate solution between those devices with multi-month to multi-year battery life as well as keeping the complexity at a low level.

IEEE 802.15.4 operates in unlicensed international frequency bands for IoT devices such as sensors, smart badges, actuators, controls and home automation.

The IEEE 802.15.4 has undergone multiple releases and variants to adapt to different forms of physical layers and applications.
It is the standard used by other specifications such as ZigBee, 6lowPAN, ISA100.11a and Thread.

Those specifications extend the current standard by specifying some upper layers. IETF 6loWPAN: an acronym for IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks, enhances IPv6 to support the communication requirements of low-power devices and IEEE 802.15.4 networks and is a compressed version of IPv6. 6loWPAN is how you do IPV6 over low-power networks which is typically one of the constraints that IoT devices have.

Routing protocols: IETF RPL: IPv6 Routing Protocol for Lowpower and Lossy Networks (LLNs). LLNs are networks in which routers are constraints due to processing power, memory, and energy (battery power); as well as their interconnects that are characterized by high loss rates, low data rates, and instability.

These networks can range from small numbers of routers (in the range of 10) to large network made of thousands of routers.

These networks can be point to point type of connection to full meshed multipoint architectures.

Messaging protocols: IETF CoAP: Constrained Application Protocol.
It’s a web transfer protocol meeting (like HTTP, which is not the most adapted to the IoT constraints) adapted to very low overhead, and simplicity for constrained environments.

ISO MQTT: Message Queuing Telemetry Transport. MQTT is a Client Server publish/subscribe messaging transport protocol. It is light weight, open, simple, and designed to be easy to implement and used in constrained environments that require small code footprint or limited bandwidth.

IETF XMPP: Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol enables streaming of Extensible Markup Language (XML) elements in close to real time between any two network endpoints and is used mainly for the purpose of building instant messaging and presence applications that meet the requirements of RFC 2779. ISO AMQP: Advanced Message Queuing Protocol defines a binary wire-level protocol, meaning that the data is sent as a stream of bytes and therefore can be created or read by any tool that comply with this format.

Unlike HTTP and XMPP, AMQP does not have a standard API. Pre-order the IoT Book ‘Digitize Or Die’ HERE & LEARN MORE about IoT Protocols & Acronyms!

HOW TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL BLOGGER

How to Become A Professional Blogger...

In recent years, social media has been revolutionising the way people find jobs. Social media is now becoming a job in itself, with many people turning their blog or website into a viable moneymaker.

If you’re hoping to become the next Perez Hilton or Sam and the City, here are some simple steps to get started!

Getting started If you are considering starting a blog with making money as a goal, there are many things to consider besides where to put your advertising.

Creating and maintaining a successful website is incredibly challenging, especially if you are more concerned with profits and page hits than creating interesting content.

Most successful websites and blogs start out as an avenue for a particular interest or as an outlet for creativity or emotion.

Think about the area or niche that you’re passionate about – whether it is music, technology, fashion, social justice or exotic insects of South America.
It needs to be a topic that excites you and inspires you to start talking.

Gaining credibility The instant nature of the Internet has created a shift towards online news sources – and now online information, including many blogs, are seen as reliable resources.

Australian site Crikey, an independent news blog, has garnered more and more influence and credibility with its online coverage of news and politics.

Blog Mashable, created by then 19-year-old Scotsman Pete Cashmore in 2005, is now listed in the top 10 blogs in the world and is regarded as a reliable source on web developments and social media.

Mia Freedman, former Cosmopolitan editor, now runs a successful website, Mamamia. She has noticed the shift in loyalty from print to online information and entertainment. ‘More and more I see magazines losing credibility with readers as people start to understand the level of digital manipulation that goes on.

Websites have an authenticity that magazines can’t even hope to have,’ says Freedman. Mamamia has a loyal following of women in Australia and overseas, with over a million hits a month.

The Bloggie Awards, considered the most prestigious awards on the Net given to outstanding blogs in different categories as voted by the public, have also helped to change the reputation of blogs as a hobby into a credible and serious media format. This has also upped the stakes, and in order to be taken seriously as a blogger, you need to create accurate and non-defamatory content.

Keep a check on copyright and trademark laws. While opinions are valued in the online world, remember that blogs are not exempt from legislation. You don't need a qualification, you just need passion!

There are no requirements to start your own website or blog, apart from a commitment of time and creativity.

And this is the reason for their success as well as their overwhelming quantity.
What conveys strongly through one’s personal blog or website is the passion, sense of humour, and quirks of the creator.

Dave Ross, co-creator of Australian blog Stoney Roads, created the website armed with simply his passion for deejaying and music, after he saw how popular blogs were becoming.

The conversational tone of the bloggers, funny posts and updated content work like a charm and keep his followers coming back for more. With large numbers of visitors flocking to the website monthly, the Stoney Roads crew began to monetise the site and launched their own start-up company.
‘Our popularity is a result of a dash of pixie dust, a drop of ninja blood and some smurf droppings!
But really comes from a combination of regular updates, talking to as many artists as possible, replying to emails, getting new music first and keeping the blog looking fresh and interesting.

It’s easy to do when you enjoy it!’ says Ross. Make sure you stand out from the crowd In such a saturated market, using your strengths to your advantage can help attract a devoted audience.

Have a think about what makes you so special, and what your professional brand is. If you have a great way with words be sure to display it through your writing.
Or perhaps you have an eccentric sense of style.

One of the most successful fashion bloggers, Tavi Gevinson, is a prime example of how playing up your quirks and characteristics can be a recipe for success. At the age of 13 Gevinson has a blog called Style Rookie, which draws nearly 30 000 readers each day.

Her tongue-in-cheek writing and cultural references make for a highly enjoyable read, while her love of fashion and cutting-edge style has won her acclaim outside of the virtual world, with front row seats to fashion shows, interviews and guest columns in magazines.

Create virtual communities Blogs, and websites let members feel connected.

People are attracted to this sense of belonging, and enjoy being vocal in an active society. It is up to the blogger to foster this communal relationship by engaging in ongoing discussions and maintaining two-way communication.

As Mia Freedman explains, ‘People don’t go to church as much as they used to; they don’t know their neighbours anymore. Websites like Mamamia have become the new community for women to reach out and connect with other people, share things and support each other.’

So how can you draw readers to your blog?

Spread the word that you have a new blog to your friends and family.
Promoting your blog through relevant sites and forums also, is a great way to attract a readership.

Be careful not to create spam and make sure you have permission before you promote your website on somebody else’s.

Free blogging websites often provide basic tools on monitoring traffic to your site.
Keep an eye on the trends and statistics.

The best thing you can do to improve your traffic and search engine optimisation (SEO) is to make your posts consistently interesting, relevant and ‘sticky’ so that people will want to read on for longer and return to your site.

Always remember why you started blogging in the first place. If you concentrate on the profit side of things, it will come across in your website and may cost you more than you make.

10 JOBS THE INTERNET CREATED...

10 jobs that the internet created

1. Social Media Manager: LinkedIn recently placed social media management, otherwise known as online community management, as the top skill for 2013 according to its member profiles and their job-hunting success.

Social Media is the one of the internet’s most viral byproducts and fast becoming responsible for procrastination at its best.

Companies are capitalising on this global obsession with staying connected by utilising these digital networks, so much so that the specialised role of social media manager has emerged.

Essentially, it is a brand management role designed to produce content, promote conversation and monitor whatever social media platforms a company uses.

2. Web Developer: Web Developers, not to be confused with web designers, are the gatekeepers of the internet.
They create the web pages we happily browse through and are fluent, in a range of foreign computer languages that most of us don’t even know the name of.

Since the commercialisation of the internet, IT roles have boomed, and web development continues to be one of the most sought after skills, in the job market.

3. Apple Genius: Apple stores have become an institution in themselves, and are a prime example of how the internet, is not only changing the retail landscape through online shopping, but also the in-store experience.

With their unmistakable blue shirt and digital lanyard, Apple Geniuses are your one stop shop regardless of whether you’re looking for the latest accessories or you dropped your iPhone in the toilet.

4. SEO Consultant As the internet grows in popularity, so does the competitiveness of getting your voice heard online.
For this reason, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has quickly become big business for, well, any business.

By using the right channels, keywords and other targeted strategies, companies can improve their visibility when someone goes searching for their type of product or service online.

Whole agencies are now dedicated to SEO, often perceived as a bunch of magic tricks, as companies scramble for the top spot on Google.

5. App Developer: Most of us feel naked if we leave the house without our phone or trusty portable device.
Partly due to the fact no one knows numbers off by heart anymore, but also because we are left defenceless, when waiting for friends or commuting to work without a suite of apps to keep us occupied.

The app market has paved the way for a new, fun form of developing and has seen more ‘ Teenager Becomes Instant Millionaire’ Stories than I care to count. There’s no doubt about it – Techs Get The Cheques.

6. UX Designer: Just because a company has a website doesn’t mean that people are going to use it.
And just because they use it doesn’t mean they’re going to stick around for long.

Great UX, or User Experience, is critical in ensuring that your users can navigate – and enjoy navigating – your site.
This increases your site conversion rates which, let’s face it, is the end goal for any business.

The web boom has seen some pretty average creations amongst the digital gems out there in cyberspace.

UX professionals marry the technical side with web design and user behaviour, designing sites that match the needs of the business and its customers.

And we all know the value of a happy customer, making this role a serious commodity.

7. Cloud Services Specialist: Computer networking has been around for a while, but the term ‘cloud’ has been gaining more exposure in recent times, amongst us tech neanderthals.

Essentially, it is using the internet to connect devices, and share information. Apple is one of the companies that can be credited for bringing the term to the masses through ‘the iCloud’ – a networked backup/sharing function between their products.

As the concept of cloud computing works its way into mainstream consciousness, the demand for IT professionals specialising in cloud services continues to increase.

8. Software Engineer: Software Engineers create the computer programs that make technology actually work.
Not only this, the best software engineers create programs that make computing and, let’s face it, life easier.

While software is not necessarily reliant on the internet, opportunities for software engineers have boomed with the digital revolution as people turn to the internet to find quick fixes and user friendly solutions for just about everything.

9. MOOCs Coordinator If you haven’t heard about MOOCs, you’ve been living under a rock – without WiFi. MOOCs, or Massive Open Online Courses, are the new craze in online learning and, as the name suggests, are open to everyone, and free (Google, Grow with Google).

You can study from some of the world’s most prestigious universities as well as highly respected colleges and other online education providers.
Course options span from traditional topics to ‘how to survive the zombie apocalypse’ and the growing popularity means that new roles are being created, specifically to coordinate these courses.

10. Blogger: While anyone can be a Blogger, Exceptionally Clever Wordsmiths are hitting such a high level of page views, with their musings that they’re turning hobbies into dollars through advertisers buying real estate on their websites.

You don’t just have to start a blogspot account and wait for the advertisers to come knocking though, companies also hire full time, or freelance bloggers to create specific content for their online presence.

When it comes to the internet, content is king and an effective writer can be worth their weight in gold.
As illustrated in last week article about jobs the internet killed, the times are a-changing, but it’s definitely for the better.

According to a report by the McKinsey Global Institute, the internet accounted for GDP growth of 21 per cent between 2006 and 2011.

The same report revealed that the internet has created 2.6 jobs for every job lost as a result of increased technology. If you’re afraid of getting left behind by this digital ride, it’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon.

In fact, the internet has made upskilling and gaining new qualifications easier than ever through online course offerings.

So what are you waiting for? Viva la revolution!

The robots are coming!

ONLINE JOB SEEKERS...

Online employment resources now rival personal and professional networks as a top source of job information.

Clearly, the vast majority of American job seekers have utilized online resources at one time or another to look for and apply for jobs – but the internet is just one resource that job seekers might take advantage of when looking for work.

How do online resources stack up to the many other ways of looking for and finding employment, whether online or offline?
To examine this question more deeply, the survey asked a series of questions about the resources, recent job seekers took advantage of in their most recent search for employment.
These findings illustrate, that Americans utilize a wide range of resources, when looking for work – but online resources, along with personal and professional networks, are especially important, when it comes to finding employment in America today.

Roughly one-third of Americans (34%) indicate, that they have looked for a new job at some point in the last two years, and 79% of these job seekers utilized resources or information they found online as part of their most recent employment search.
By comparison, 66% of these recent job seekers turned to personal connections with close friends or family members, 63% turned to professional or work connections, and 55% sought assistance from acquaintances or friends-of-friends.

Taken together, 80% of recent job seekers used professional contacts, close personal connections, and/or more distant personal connections in their most recent search for employment – nearly identical to the 79% who used online resources and information.

Several other resources are used by a substantial minority of recent job seekers: 32% utilized government or private employment agencies in their most recent job search, 32% utilized ads in print publications, and 28% utilized events such as conferences or job fairs.

Job seekers in a range of demographic groups rely heavily on the internet as an employment resource, but Americans with high levels of educational attainment are especially likely to do so.

Some 88% of college graduates utilized online resources and information as part of their most recent job search, compared with 77% of those who have attended but not graduated from college, and 69% of those who have not attended college at all.

Educational attainment has long been a strong predictor of whether or not Americans go online or not, but the differences noted here are not merely the result of higher rates of internet adoption by Americans with relatively high education levels.

Even when non-internet users are excluded from this analysis, job seekers who have attended or graduated from college are substantially more likely to rely on online resources compared with job seekers with only a high school education.

These better-educated job seekers are also more likely than job seekers with lower education levels to have relied on professional connections (but not close personal connections or friends-of-friends) in their most recent job search.

Nearly three-quarters (72%) of college graduates utilized professional connections in their most recent job search, compared with 59% of those who have attended but not graduated from college, and 57% of those who have not attended college at all. 34% of job seekers point to resources and information they found online as the most important source of information in their most recent job search Americans today typically incorporate a number of different information sources into their hunt for employment: Fully 52% of recent job seekers indicate that they utilized four or more resources (out of a total of seven) in their most recent employment search, while just 11% indicate that they used only one resource.

But although job seekers tend to leave few stones unturned when searching for employment, a small number of resources – including those found online – stand out as being especially important to a large number of Americans.

In addition to asking which resources they utilized in any way during their most recent job search, the survey also asked these job seekers to indicate the resource they consider to be the single most important in helping them look for work.

Roughly one-third of job seekers (34%) say resources and information they found online were the most important resource they used in their last job search; 20% cite close personal connections, and 17% cite professional or work contacts as their most important resource.

Relatively modest numbers of job seekers point towards other types of resources as their most important source of assistance during their most recent job search: 7% cite connections with acquaintances or friends-of-friends, 5% cite employment agencies, 5% cite events such as job fairs, and 4% cite ads in print publications.

There are relatively few demographic differences when it comes to the resources job seekers rely on most heavily when looking for work.
Younger job seekers and those who have not attended college were a bit more likely to say personal connections with friends or family members were most important when they were looking for work, while college graduates and older job seekers tend to indicate they relied more heavily on professional or work contacts.

Minority of Americans lack confidence in digital job-seeking skills As job-related services and information increasingly move online, most Americans feel fairly confident in their ability to navigate various aspects of the digital job hunt.
But at the same time, a minority lack confidence in their ability to perform even relatively basic tasks such as emailing potential employers or finding lists of available jobs online.
This is especially true among those who have not attended college and those who are not currently employed for pay.

The survey asked Americans (not including those who indicate that they are either retired or disabled when asked for their employment status) how easy it would be for them to perform a number of tasks in the event they needed to look for a new job and found that: 87% say it would be easy to look up online services and programs available to job seekers, with 58% saying this would be “very easy.” 86% say it would be easy to contact and follow up with potential employers via email, with 70% saying this would be “very easy.” 86% say it would be easy to fill out a job application online, with 65% saying this would be “very easy.” 85% say it would be easy to go online to find lists of available jobs, with 63% saying this would be “very easy.” 80% say it would be easy to create a professional resume, with 54% saying this would be “very easy.” 74% say it would be easy to highlight their employment skills using a personal website or social media profile, with 45% saying this would be “very easy.”

Clearly, the ability to engage in these behaviors might be especially useful for people who are not currently employed – and yet, Americans who are not employed for pay are much more likely than those who are to indicate that they would have a difficult time performing these tasks.
For instance, 28% of Americans who are currently not employed indicate that it would not be easy to create a professional resume if they needed to do so (compared with 14% of those who currently have a job); 22% would have a hard time filling out an online job application (compared with 10% of those who are currently employed); and 19% would have a hard time contacting employers via email, finding lists of jobs online, or looking up services available to job seekers.

Americans who have not attended college also indicate that they would have a particularly difficult time performing many of these tasks.

Roughly one-in-five adults with a high school diploma or less indicate that it would not be easy to contact a potential employer via email, find programs online that help job seekers, fill out an online job application, or find lists online of available jobs in their local area.
And nearly one-in-three who haven’t attended college indicate that it would not be easy for them to create a professional resume or use social media to highlight their job skills.
In each case, Americans who have attended and/or graduated from college are significantly more comfortable with these aspects of the modern job seeking process.

FOCUSED LINEAR COMPRESSION THERAPY

ED COMPRESSION THERAPY A medically proven, long-term treatment that is surgery-free, drug-free and needle-free. GET STARTED TODAY Erectile Dysfunction Treatment in Rockville MD and Northern, VA Most men will experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their life. Our clinic is the only clinic in the Washington DC area that uses the breakthrough technology called Focused Linear Compression Therapy. This therapy addresses the underlying cause of erectile dysfunction for most men – impaired blood vessels and poor blood flow. As men get older, the blood vessels that supply blood to the penis begin to close up and decay. Our procedure uses a specific type of sound wave to treat the penis and penis area. The gentle pulsating waves open up existing blood vessels and stimulate the growth of new blood vessels. This leads to improved blood flow to this sensitive area. The result? Increased sensitivity and stronger, more natural, spontaneous erections. About 80% of men have reported improved sexual performance and positive results after receiving treatment.  In fact, our treatment has been shown to be as effective as Viagra, Cialis or other oral ED drugs, without any of the negative side effect Why Focused Linear Compression Therapy? Over 80% of men have reported improved sexual performance, and positive results after receiving treatment.  In fact, our treatment has been shown to be as effective as Viagra, Cialis or other oral ED drugs, without any of the negative side effects. In most cases, our treatment results in the long-term improvement of erectile dysfunction. This therapy is based on extensive clinical research that you can read about here. Who is it for? Any man with erectile dysfunction is a candidate for Focused Linear Compression Therapy. The treatment is great for men who have not responded to oral medications or who are unable to take oral medications. Whether your ED is mild or severe, our treatment has been proven to help. What is the treatment like? The shockwave therapy treatment is quick, relatively painless, and easy. It is an outpatient procedure that takes 25 minutes or less. You’ll be able to go home as soon as it’s done and most men plan sexual activity for as early as that same evening. The technician will position the machine over the penile shaft and adjust the machine during treatment to ensure the largest area possible is treated. Generally, you will undergo six treatments over several weeks, but every patient is different. Our physician may prescribe more or fewer treatments. You will feel little pain, if any, during the procedure. Does it work? Yes, therapy has become the “Gold Standard” for treating ED in Europe and the machine was recently FDA cleared in the United States in 2016. You can read the extensive medical research here. In a study titled “Men’s Power-Pressure Wave Erectile Regeneration Therapy”, researchers from Cambridge University reported, “95% of the men had improved erections based on the SHIM score measurement tool at the last treatment”. A remarkable 95% of men that received the treatment in this study had improved erections after shockwave therapy treatments. What Our Clients Are Saying I am 68 years old and it has been a long time since I have been able to get and maintain an erection. I did not think anyone was going to be able to help me, but I'm pleased to report that your Focused Linear Compression Therapy treatments, really work. A lot of men are reluctant to act when they hear an ad on the radio like yours because they are skeptical that the treatment will work for them. All I would say to them is just do it. You have nothing to lose and a wonderful life to gain. I feel years younger, like I have my life back. Amazing. Bobby N. (68) I’m 72 years old and because of side effects and my other medications Viagra and other treatments are not safe for me. I went to 3 different doctors and none could help me. A few years ago I remarried after losing my wife and we assumed that sex would not be part of our relationship as I didn’t think anyone could help me. I heard your ad and we decided we had nothing to lose. Your treatment really works. Visiting your clinic was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I only wish I had been able to have it years ago. Thanks to you, I no longer have to act my age. I feel young again. Roy M. (72) I’m not usually one to talk about my personal life, but this treatment is AMAZING! Your staff was friendly and respectful and never made me feel embarrassed, or uncomfortable. I will be telling all my friends that are dealing with ED about your clinic. Thomas C. (77) It’s been 5 years since I have been able to get an erection. I had lots of side effects with pills and the needles were not an option for me. I was nervous and embarrassed about coming to your clinic but I was pretty desperate. The people at the clinic made me feel comfortable and most importantly the treatments started working after the first few visits. Thanks for everything. You really have given me my life back. Paul B. (61) When I first heard your ad, I thought it was probably something that was too good to be true. The pills didn’t really work very well for me, and I didn’t like the way they made me feel, but my doctor said the only other options were giving myself shots or having surgery. After hearing your ad a few times, I finally made the call. I am so glad I did. Your doctor was a wonderful man who talked with me to understand my situation. He recommended a treatment plan and I got started that same day. I never expected such fast results. I think any man having problems getting an erection should come see your doctor. The treatment works! Anthony C. (44) I am 55 years old and have not been able to have sex for 3 years. Doctors have told me my only options were pills or needles, but I knew about the dangerous problems with those, and did not want to go down that road. They told me that if I didn’t, there was basically no hope for me and my wife. When I heard your ad on the radio I thought it might be some kind of scam but figured since it is natural it would be worth coming in for an appointment to see for myself. I am so glad I did. You guys are miracle workers and I can’t believe how great I feel. You proved all the other doctors wrong. Thanks! Marques B. IOT, THE REAL NEW ECONOMY

The (IOT )Internet of things, Changes the Labor Market "The increased demand for those working with the Internet, and computers more broadly, has boosted both their wages and the hours they work"

The computerization of business and telecommunications has led to much talk about the "new economy" and, possibly, a related surge in productivity.

A less recognized development is that information technology, particularly the Internet, is changing the labor market and labor organizations in important ways.
For one thing, the increased demand for those working with the Internet, and computers more broadly, has boosted both their wages and the hours they work, NBER Research Associate Richard Freeman finds.

Moreover, the low cost of transmitting information over the Internet is (shifting job search and recruitment activities) to the Web, he adds.

Third, the ease of communicating and interacting over the Internet has led (unions) to experiment with web-based modes of servicing members, perhaps thereby improving union democracy and reversing the long-run decline in membership, and carrying their message to the wider public.

"The new technologies, together with other important changes, such as the continued increase in the educational attainment of the work force, shift of employment to service sectors, and increased employment of women, are producing a labor market that differs greatly from the industrial labor market that characterized the 20th century," Freeman writes in The Labor Market in the New Information Economy (NBER Working Paper No. 9254).

Those working with computers or the Internet tend to work 5 to 6 percent more hours than other workers, Freeman finds.

Those who work with the Internet work 4 percent more hours than those who use computers but not the Internet.

The actual time worked may be even higher, Freeman notes, since the workers surveyed presumably did not add time worked at home, checking email from there, sending business messages, or working at home with a computer at night or on weekends.

On the other side, workers in their offices may spend time surfing the Internet for personal non-work reasons. Various surveys suggest they spend two or three hours per week at work visiting finance, news, and even adult content pages on the Web.

Yet it is plausible, Freeman writes, that personal use of the Internet at the workplace simply substitutes for other forms of leisure on the job, such as a coffee break or lunchtime, or other "downtime." Freeman notes that despite the rise of computer-based work at home, much important information -- business, scientific, or technological -- apparently still requires human interaction to be effectively transmitted.

So location does matter.
Nonetheless, the Internet could produce subtle changes in the coordination and timing of business activity beyond the "death of distance," Freeman suggests.

Firms may divide a work project so that people in one time zone begin the project, then pass the product to people in another zone, who do the same.

Freeman points out that one of the true successes of the dot.com world have been Internet recruitment firms.

Half of unemployed Americans with home access to the Web used it for job search in 2001 and 15 percent of the employed with home access also looked for a new position. That's especially true of younger workers.

Altogether, 8 percent of the entire labor force (with or without home access) reported looking for jobs on the Web.

The rapid expansion of job search and recruitment on the Web, Freeman explains, is because the Internet is the lowest cost way for workers to get information about jobs being offered and for employers seeking workers to get information about persons seeking work.

Firms can post advertisements for jobs on the Web for roughly a tenth the price of buying a want ad in newspaper classifieds and obtain rapid responses through on-line applications.

Workers can search a wide variety of jobs, apply relatively easily for those jobs without leaving their home or office, and be notified by e-mail by an interested firm.

Job sites, as well as offering reduced transaction costs, should offer potentially speedier clearing of the job market and better matching between workers and vacancies.

Further, Freeman writes, the Internet can increase worker and activist solidarity, creating a new internationalism by linking unions and sympathizers around the world with instant labor news and instant communications.

And, unions can use the Internet to present their case to members, business, and the general public without going through standard media channels and thus can pressure firms to acquiesce to union demands.

Unions already have used the Internet to organize wider (whistleblowing) protests to help workers in disputes in particular localities.

Unions also can organize workers on-line and develop a virtual presence, even at companies where the union lacks sufficient membership to gain recognition.
The United Food and Commercial Workers union, for instance, has a site for Wal-Mart workers to keep up with its unionization campaign.

The Web could also create a greater opportunity for union democracy by allowing rank-and-file members to participate more fully in decisions and give dissidents greater ability to make their case against incumbent leadership.

Some unions have organized Internet voting on particular issues, but most use it to communicate with workers rather than to involve them in decision-making.

Freeman expects unions to attempt to develop the right mix of services and activities on the Web to help them survive and be relevant. -- David R. Enterprises rolling out IoT devices are justifiably excited about the opportunity to gain insight from the data that these remote sensors can provide. But at the same time, companies are worried about the security risks that come along with an IoT implementation. In fact, 90 percent of businesses lack full confidence that their IoT devices are secure, according to a recent AT&T State of IoT Security survey. I

IoT customers would be willing to pay 22 percent more for secure IoT devices and would buy 77 percent more of them, if they could be assured that security was not an issue, according to a Bain & Co. survey.

CertNexus and Insider Pro are partnering to offer subscribers access to online IoT security training.  In response to these concerns, IDG Insider Pro is teaming up with CertNexus to offer a training course that leads to a Certified IoT Security Practitioner (CIoTSP) certification.

The certification validates the knowledge, skills and abilities of IT staffers to secure network environments for IoT devices, analyze vulnerabilities and determine reasonable controls against threats, and effectively monitor IoT devices and respond to incidents.

Who is CertNexus? CertNexus is the global purveyor of vendor neutral, emerging technology certifications and micro-credentials for IT, business and security professionals.

CertNexus exams meet the most rigorous development standards, which outline a global framework for developing personnel certification programs to narrow the widening skills gap.

CertNexus partners with highly knowledgeable and talented industry experts to ensure the integrity and quality of each exam, with many conforming to the stringent American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard.

Why are certifications important? The value of certifications and micro-credentials to both companies and individuals is increasing as the pace of technology quickens.

Certifications help employers identify prospective new hires, evaluate job performance and invest in staff by directing professional development opportunities. For an individual, certifications provide assurance that they have the competency to be successful with the latest technologies, demonstrates that they are committed to their profession and assists in getting assigned to coveted projects.

With micro-credentials, organizations can ensure that business leaders and project managers have the necessary knowledge to lead projects and make informed decisions. Whether providing introductory information, a deeper dive in a specialized area or compliance training, micro-credentials are right-sized for the need, which is validating focused knowledge.

Why IoT Security Practitioner?
Cybersecurity for IoT is vastly different than traditional cybersecurity. It’s not simply IT or OT, cloud or device security, it’s about data in motion and a landscape of security challenges across an entire ecosystem.

Upskilling and validating the skill levels of your IT and OT departments in IoT security removes barriers to safe, successful IoT implementations.
The IoT Security Practitioner course is designed for staffers and business leaders who are seeking to demonstrate a vendor-neutral, cross-industry skill set that will enable them to design, implement, operation and manage a secure IoT environment.

How does it work? The course is self-paced and mentor supported. An eBook serves as the primary form of instruction, supplemented by a peer-to-peer forum and email access to a mentor who can answer any questions that might arise.

There are no formal prerequisites for the course, but applicants should understand the fundamental benefits and challenges of securing IoT systems, the IoT ecosystem, common threats and countermeasures, risk management approaches, and the IoT system/software development lifecycle.

There is no separate application fee for the exam, since an exam voucher is bundled with the training program. The exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions over two hours and can be taken online or in person through Pearson Vue.

In addition, CertNexus offers a complimentary readiness assessment tool that can help organizations measure their level of preparedness against IoT threats. Log in or subscribe to take the Certified IoT Security Practitioner course.

HELD HOSTAGE IN MEXICO...

State Dept: "Monitoring" Atlanta couple stuck in Mexican hospital.

Jonathan Carlson Updated 15 hrs ago | Posted on Nov 21, 2019
The U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C. has stepped in to assist a man and his fiance with a medical ordeal in Mexico.

Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Email, Save ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) -- As Stephen Johnson and his fiance Tori Austin remain in a Mexican hospital, the State Department is reacting to our report, saying in part:  "We take allegations of mistreatment seriously and are monitoring the situation closely... we take seriously our responsibility to assist U.S citizens abroad, and are providing all appropriate consular services."

Atlanta couple held "hostage" in Mexican hospital over bill dispute a generous CBS 46 viewer wants to help too.

We are currently vetting that offer and deciding how best she and others can reach out to the family with assistance.  Johnson fell sick during a cruise to the Mexican port town of Progreso. He was hospitalized, but didn't have insurance. To make matters worse, his bill came out to $14,000.

The couple says the hospital locked the doors, got physical, and threatened to call police if they tried to leave without paying. We reached out to the hospital for comment and have not heard back.

WHEN THEY EXONERATE TRUMP...

THE NATIONALS HAVE FAR TOO MANY TERRIBLE TURK NATIONALIST.
TEAM CHEMISTRY WON'T REMAIN THIS CAST WON'T SUSTAIN ANY MEASURE OF LONGEVITY COMING THROUGH THE LERNER'S CURVE!

THE TEAM MIGHT OTHERWISE RESEMBLE SWAMP THING SCRUBS AFTER HAVING THE DUBIOUS DISTINCTION OF VISITING THE INFAMOUS AND SCANDALOUS WHITE HOUSE, A JINX ATMOSPHERE RIPE WITH CORRUPTION CONDUCIVE TO CHAMPIONS RESEMBLING CHUMPS, WHEN THEY HANG AROUND A TRAITOR AND SELL OUT LIKE VLADIMIR TRUMP.

THERE'S ONLY ONE THING, AND ONE THING ONLY, THAT APPEALS TO WHITE MEN CONCERNING, WHAT SOME (THINK THEY HAVE IN COMMON) WITH VLADIMIR TRUMP, AND THAT IS HIS BLATANT DISPLAY OF RACISM.

BUT THERE IS A MIGHTY FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, IT'S THE RESISTANCE, AN ARMY OF WOMEN, THE LGBT COMMUNITY AND PEOPLE OF COLOR!

WHITE MEN ARE JUST NOT THAT POTENT FORCE ANY LONGER, WHITE MEN ALIKE FIGURE, THEY CAN SLOW THE RISE OF PEOPLE OF COLOR, (FOR INSTANCE) AT THE BORDER, BUT THE TRANSFORMATION WAS SO RAPID AND REVOLUTIONARY, IT WAS UPON THEM AT ONCE, AND IT WAS A NATURAL OCCURRENCE!

THAT'S WHY WHITE MEN, WILL FINALLY,  HAVE TO SHARE THE MANTLE OR HAVE IT LITERALLY RAMMED DOWN THEIR THROAT, VLADIMIR TRUMP AND OTHER LIKE-MINDED WHITE MEN, THINK THIS IS THEIR LAND EXCLUSIVELY, NOTHING IS FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!

IN FACT THIS COUNTRY BELONGS TO ALL THE TAX PAYING PEOPLE IN EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY IN THIS COUNTRY, WE ALL HAVE A STAKE IN UNCLE SAM SOVEREIGNTY. MOREOVER, YOU PAID TAXES, YOU PAID YOUR DUES!

AND WHEN THE SENATE FICTITIOUSLY FINDS TRUMP NOT GUILTY, THEY THEN BECOME THE GUILTY PARTY!

THEY BECOME GUILTY IN THE COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION, GUILTY BEYOND THE SHADOW OF DOUBT!

GUILTY OF POOR POLITICAL DECORUM!

THEY BECOME THE SUBJECT OF RIDICULE!

THEY OPEN PANDORA'S BOX OF ODIOUS HISTORY!

THEY BECOME INSTANT ACCOMPLICES, GUILTY OF DRIVING THE GET A WAY CLOWN CAR, AS THEY CRASH AND BURN IN THE DITCH OF THE SWAMP.

EXONERATING TRUMP WILL BE THE EQUIVALENT OF POLITICAL SUICIDE, AS REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS, SWIM AGAINST THE TIDE OF (ME TOO, TIMES UP) RESISTANCE.

SO TRUMP STOKES RACISM, AS OPPOSED TO, THE DEMOCRATS STROKE OF GENIUS  SPEARHEADED BY (FANCY NANCY AND MR. SWIFT SCHIFF) AND IN SO DOING, THEY LAND SQUARELY ON THEIR FEET, AND IN THE ANNALS OF FOLK LORE, THEY DELIVER (THE KO BLOW) ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY, AS THE OTHER SIDE  ONLY LANDS, GLANCING BLOWS.

SO THE IMPEACHMENT DECISION WILL BE CRITICAL TO THE SOVEREIGNTY AND PRESERVATION OF THE US CONSTITUTION CODE, AND REPUBLICAN SECESSION WILL MAKE A MOCKERY OF DEMOCRACY, WHEN THEY EXONERATE VLADIMIR TRUMP!

SO, WILL THERE BE TONS OF WHISTLES, OR DANCING IN THE STREETS?

eCONomy STUPID...

| Miami Herald LEONARD PITTS JR.

No, it’s not the economy, stupid. Trump's homo sapien supporters fear, a female, the LGBT Community, reigning in a black and brown America!

We’re going to try something different today. Rather than pontificate yet again upon the motives of Donald Trump’s homo sapien supporters, I’ll let a few of them explain themselves in their own antiquated words.

Here, then, is “Robert” with a comparative analysis of the 44th and 45th presidents: “President Trump has accomplished more positive things for this nation in less than two years than the last three have accomplished in twenty plus years.

After the past eight years of a Muslim Marxist in the White House this nation could not survive another demwit in the White House.

… Could you please list one thing the demwit party has done for the black people in America other than hand out government freeies for their continued votes?”

And here’s “Gary’s” take on demographic change: “[America] has a constitution which guarantees equal rights for all and yet people like you hunger for change that puts people like me in the back of the bus. You seem eager to know what it would be like to be in the driver’s seat. You need look no further than Zimbabwe and South Africa. When people like you started driving the bus, the wheels came off. That’s what terrifies people like me.”

This column is presented as a service for those progressive readers who are struggling with something I said in this space. Namely, that I see no point in trying to reason with Trump voters.

I first wrote that over a month ago, and I am still hearing how “disappointed” they are at my refusal to reach out. So I thought it might be valuable to hear from the people I’ve failed to reach out to.

I’m sure some of you think those emails were cherry-picked to highlight the intolerance of Trump voters. They weren’t. They are, in fact, a representative sampling from a single day in May, culled by my assistant, Judi.

It’s still an article of faith for many that the Trump phenomenon was born out of fiscal insecurity, the primal scream of working people left behind by a changing economy.

But I don’t think I’ve ever, not once, seen an email from a Trump supporter who explained himself in terms of the factory or the coal mine shutting down.

I have, however, heard from hundreds like “Matthew,” who worries about “immigrants” and “Gerald,” who thinks people of color have an “alliance” against him.

Such people validate the verdict of a growing body of scholarship that says, in the words of a new study by University of Kansas professors David N. Smith and Eric Hanley, “The decisive reason that white, male, older and less educated voters were disproportionately pro-Trump is that they shared his prejudices and wanted domineering, aggressive leaders

…” Look, I get it. That’s a hard pill for those progressives who have kin or friends among Trump supporters. We love who we love, even when they — or we — are small, unkind or disappointing. That’s what family is about. We love who we love, and let no one make you feel compelled to apologize for that. But at the same time, let us be clear-eyed and tough-minded in assessing what’s happened to our country — and why.

How else can we salvage it from the likes of “A Trumper” who says Trump was needed to “get things back in order” after the “terrible job” done by President Obama? He wrote: “We’re sick of paying welfare to so many of your brothers who don’t know what work and integrity mean.

I hope you keep writing these articles and reminding my White Christian brothers that we did the right thing and we need to re elect Trump.” I have two words for those progressives who think it’s possible to “reason” with that: You first.
